Too many service calls

I have owned this for 4-5 years (the built in model) and have had to get it serviced 3 times. Twice for a bad mother board at $500 each and broken door springs. Not a very reliable product. Waiting on a new mother board now.

I've had this for approx 5 years, it has been repaired several times, over 5-6 times, typically all the same issues. Sad thing is the built in oven portion works very well, but microwave portion is complete garbage

A Problem From the Beginning

We purchased the microwave along with a dishwasher, oven, stove and refrigerator/freezer in 2015, only to have the clock panel stop working within the first 6 months. A Bosch service person replaced it. Then two years into service, the door springs broke and the entire door and assembly had to be replaced at a cost of $400+ Out of my own pocket, since it was beyond the warranty period. Finally, three weeks ago, and only 6 years into service, the entire microwave went dark and stopped working. I checked on line and this model is now the subject of a class action lawsuit. I paid about $1700 for a piece of crap, and the worst part is, I bought it to match the rest of the appliances. Never again will I buy a Bosch product.

PANEL DIMMING can't see anything on the display

I own many Bosch products, Dishwasher, Washer/Dryer, Cooktop and the built in Combination Ovens - Microwave(speed oven on top) the DISPLAY of the Microwave oven is not FUNCTIONING properly it is so dim that we are not able to use/see any of the settings. This product is unfortunately of a poor quality it failed to work properly after a few years of very light use. At this time it is a good looking useless kitchen appliance.

Of all of the cheap, and moderately priced microwaves I've had, all have worked great until the day I ditched it for an upgrade, until now. Got this expensive microwave and a few years later, I have a brand new bread box that looks like a microwave. Lol. So frustrating. I have the same display issue as everyone else here.

When I moved into my new home I was excited to see that some of the appliances in my new home were Bosch because I had heard that they were good appliances. Actually it turns out they are just expensive items that break down easily and cost a lot of money to fix. The springs to the door of our microwave oven broke so we had to buy a whole new door to fix that problem because they don't just provide spring replacements, also like most of the people on here our panel display is very dim, and on top of that the light inside the microwave burnt out and it sounds like it's a process to have that changed out. Since it's such a common problem with the display dimming out I wish Bosch would fix that problem for free without having to have the appliance still under warranty.

Extremely Disappointed in Bosch product HMC80251uc

I purchased this unit back in 2016 and have had this unit repaired 5 different times and now have a new problem. The first problem only one year after purchased. I have spent over $1,400 in repairs and have never even been told by Bosch 'Im sorry. I'm a customer who has bought many of your products over the years and can not believe how I'v been treated on this unit. My wife and I have wrote to the company countless times and never once recieved a response. 2 different times it was the display light then I had to buy a whole new door because the resistor broke. The switches on the door latches(fues) have blown a few different times and on and on. I really hate complaining about material things but this is just ridiculous. I understand you are in business to make money but dont you want happy customers feeling good about doing business with you. I'm quite sure I'm just wasting my time again writing this but I feel like I tried to make someone understand my frustration. I keep getting it fixed because my wife Renie and I work so much and have children and cant be without our microwave and would have to buy a whole new combo unit and it was very expensive. I feel I deserve a brand new unit for all the trouble and money I'v gone through. I purchased this and all the other Bosch products in Deptford NJ.

Bosch Microwave

Bosch made a microwave that had nothing but issues. First issue was shortly after purchasing, the lights on the controls became so dim that we had to guess what we were programming it to do. It also began sparking and the smell of plastic burning inside made it scary to use. To replace the turn table cost over $120.00. That is ridiculous! I would not recommend anyone to go out and purchase a Bosch microwave in the future. It gave Bosch a bad name!

Quit working after 2.5 years, common issue

We bought a new house in Aug of 2018 and the Convection oven just went out, it was made in July of 2015. Not sure what the issues is but after seeing the reviews on here and researching on line, it could be the 3 door switches or the resisters have blown. Very disappointed in the quality of the product. This is our second bosh appliance that has gone out in the last year and a half. The other was our OTR microwave. We have 3 other Bosch Appliances and I hope this is not a reoccurring issue, as these are high priced appliance for how long they last

Display became dim and then completely gives out

Hey all, coming in to confirm what other people are writing about the dimming display. The display became very dim a few weeks ago and completely given out yesterday. Right now there is no way to use the unit as the display is not working. I'm OK with paying to fix it because its out of warranty- that's fine- but I couldn't get any information about whether this was a known issue and that the replacement displays were better manufactured to fix this problem. I don't want to spend $500 fixing it if it's going to do this again in a year or two.

Microwave oven breaks more than once per year. Repair costs over seven years are close to $1000, and lots of time without a working microwave. Service now takes nearly two months. Components are cheap and unreliable. Interior is very hard to clean due to coils, etc.

This was an $1,800 mistake. One of the worst appliances I have ever purchased. Non stop issues with the control panel, the LED display was so dim you could not read it even if you turned off all the lights, door switches gone bad, magnetron, diodes, etc. I deserve to win the $500 sweepstakes that Bosch enticed me with to make this review.

Bought model HMC80251 UC/01 in 2015. Had nothing but trouble. Fading display progressing to no dispaly. Replaced the control board twice. Even the convection oven stopped working. BOSCH Customer Care have been as useful as an ashtry on a motor bike. I, like many others, bought BOSCH because it was a quality brand. Not any more. German trade name but now Made in China! I would give a minus 1 star.

What a disappointment. Installed new in 2016. We have had all of the same problems that have been reported. Display too dim replaced main control panel 2 times, fuse connected to door sensing switch blown and replaced 4 times, replaced oven light once. Now switch box part # 00648812 is no longer available so can't even repair. Since I have a two oven unit which is heavy and has to come out of the wall to be worked on so often, I have built a small stool at the right height to support the oven while being worked... Unbelieveable! This unit needs to be recalled to protect the Bosch name!

I recenlty purchased (from a distrubutor called Factory Builder Stores - recommended by my builder) this built in microwave speed oven/oven combination for our newly construction home which completed in Ocotber 2016. This combo unit was part of the suite of Bosch appliances that were purchase for our home to the tune of $15,000!. about August of this year 2020. Given our prior experience with Bosch appliances we expected the same quality products. However, the microwave display started looking dimmer until eventually it was very difficult to read and then the unit stopped working all togehter. After contacting an electrician to check the power to the unit (which was not the isssue), Bosch was contacted and a technician came out to repair the MW. He had to replace 2 switches (and support) however on powering up the display was still dim. The technician advised that it was most likely the control panel which would have to be ordered. Another appointment was needed schedule to replace the control panel (which Bosch agreed to cover the parts cost) given the numerous complaints about this unit and the control panel. When the new control panel was installed i noticed that there was some shadow lights on the control panel. Basically you can see lines of backlighted symbols of different colours even during the day. During the night it is very obvious and the contrast with the oven control panel is so sticking i have just turned the clock off on the MW. This does not eliminate the very bright back light during the night - even with the clock mode turned off. To be honest it looks like a do-it-yourself repair which is beyond disappointing for what is supposed to be a higher end appliance. Since this repair the oven unit's cooling fan is making increasing louder noises.. so i have scheduled yet another service appointment. I am not looking forward to dealing with this latest issue after seeing all the complaints about this unit - both the microwave and oven unit.

Not worth the price

We remodeled our kitchen 3 years ago and installed all new Bosch appliances. They all work very well except the microwave. The panel went dim after about 1 year and the tray started sparking this thanksgiving (2020). I found out through some reasearch I need to buy a new rotating tray (100.00) and replace two capacitors on an electronic board. What a pain in the butt. Considering what I paid for the microwave it's definetly NOT WORTH IT! The other Bosch appliances seem to be fine but whatever you do, DON'T BUY THE MICROWAVE!

Biggest disappointment in Bosch appliances

When we remodeled our kitchen three years ago, we went with all Bosch appliances for its quality and reputation. So far every appliance has held up except for this microwave. Just after the 1-year warranty ended, the microwave stopped working. So we called a Bosch-authorized repair service to repair it. Then a few months later, the control panel dimmed so much that you couldn't see anything anymore so we replaced that. Then the door hinge broke so we replaced the door. Then today, the microwave died again. Four times in three years! And each repair was performed by the Bosch authorized repair company, so the repair bills added up to exceed the cost of a new microwave. This microwave is a disaster, and makes me leery of purchasing any Bosch-branded microwave.
